The Municipality of Polygyros has unveiled its massive Summer 2026 Cultural Program, packed with open-air theatrical performances, live concerts, gastronomic festivals, and nostalgic retro celebrations.

Spanning from July to September 2026, these events take place across various scenic locations—from the majestic Open Air Theater of Polygyros to beachside stages in Psakoudia and Gerakini, and historic archaeological sites like Ancient Olynthos.

July 2026: Choir Meetings, Aristophanes, and Food Truck Festivals

July kicks off with a vibrant mix of children’s musical collaborations, classic Greek comedy, and beachside street food.

• July 4 | 2nd Children’s Choir Meeting: The festival opens at the Polygyros Open Air Theater with 130 children from five acclaimed choirs joining legendary composer Nikos Kypourgos on stage. (Free Entrance)

• July 6 | Aristophanes’ “Ecclesiazusae” (The Assemblywomen): Enjoy a fresh, political comedy revival by the local Polygyros Cultural Association’s theater group. (Tickets: €6 / €4 reduced)

• July 11 | Alexandros Tsouvelas Stand-Up Comedy: Greece’s beloved comedian brings his brand new show “Alien: The Return | Summer ’26” to Polygyros. Note: This event is already Sold Out.

• July 27 | Paschalis Arvanitidis & Kostas Chatzis: A rare, nostalgic musical encounter bringing together the timeless voice of Greek pop (Paschalis) and the legendary troubadour of social-protest song (Kostas Chatzis). (Tickets: €20)

August 2026: Beer Festivals, Ancient Myths, and a Journey to the 1950s

August turns up the heat with dynamic music pairings and unique experiential events.

The Balkan Beer Fest (BBF)

From August 5 to August 9, the beach of Gerakini transforms into a vibrant crossroads of flavors and sounds. Visitors can sample craft beers from top Greek microbreweries and traditional Balkan street food from custom wooden kiosks.

Don’t Miss: On Friday, August 7, the band TSERNA takes the main stage, masterfully fusing traditional Greek folk music with modern rock and heavy metal elements. (Free Entrance)

A Stroll into 1950s Polygyros

On Sunday, August 23, Polygyros literally breaks the time barrier. The town’s main pedestrian street and Town Hall Square will transform into a live 1950s neighborhood. Put on your polka-dot dresses and retro blazers to enjoy open-air chess tournaments, vintage street games, a 1950s photo gallery, traditional pastries baked in wood-fired ovens, and an open swing dancing lesson culminating in a live concert by Au Revoir. • August 27 | “Ochi Allo Karvouno” (No More Coal): Master comedy writers Reppas & Papathanasiou present their brand-new satirical mirror of modern Greek life, starring Antonis Loudaros and Matildi Maggira. (Tickets: €20)

• August 28 | August Full Moon at the Byzantine Tower: Experience an acoustic, atmospheric rebetiko evening with the Thessalonian schema “Lakirdi” under the moonlight at the historic Byzantine Tower of Galatista. (Free Entrance)

• August 29 | PAGAN at Ancient Olynthos: The progressive theatrical-folk band phenomenon, fronted by the explosive Evelyn Assouad, will perform a mystical concert designed to awaken ancient memories through intense rhythms and drama. (Tickets: €20 / €15 reduced)

September 2026: Sailing into Autumn with Tributes and Drama

The festival winds down in September with deeply moving homages to Greek art and literature.

• September 6 | “Inspector Drake and the Black Widow”: David Tristram’s hilarious British detective spoof arrives for the first time in Greece, directed by Vasilis Thomopoulos and starring Marios Athanasiou and Spyros Poulis. (Tickets: €20 / €17 reduced)

• September 14 | “Singing Kavvadias, 50 Years Later…”: A poetic, salt-tinged musical journey at the Open Air Theater honoring the “poet of the seas,” Nikos Kavvadias, featuring legendary performances of his poems set to music by Thanos Mikroutsikos and Giannis Spanos. (Free Entrance)

• September 26 | “Yannoulis Chalepas: My Sleeping Beauty”: Concluding the season at the Closed Municipal Theater, this gripping play charts the tragic, brilliant life of Greece’s greatest sculptor, Yannoulis Chalepas, and his fight against madness and isolation.
