Every summer, the coastline of Nea Moudania transforms into a vibrant focal point for art, music, and performance. Running for over two decades, the Festival of the Sea stands as the premium cultural institution of the Nea Propontida municipality, drawing locals and international visitors to an extraordinary waterfront setting.
An Open-Air Cultural Landmark by the Waves
The definitive highlight of the festival is its venue. Built right on the waterfront, the open-air theater offers spectators panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. To the east, the silhouette of the Kassandra peninsula shapes the horizon, while looking west provides front-row seats to spectacular sunsets with Mount Olympus framing the background.
The design of the theater maximizes acoustic clarity, ensuring that whether you are attending a minimal acoustic set or a grand theatrical production, the sound carries perfectly over the coastal breeze.

The Municipal Youth Choir of Nea Moudania opens the Sea Festival with a music-theatre performance about friendship, memory, fears and new beginnings.
Thursday 16 July: The Hotel of Emotions
A new children’s theatre performance based on the book by Lidia Brankovic, inviting young audiences into a magical world where emotions take center stage.
Saturday 18 July: Nikos Xylouris – The Archangel of Crete
A tribute to Nikos Xylouris, celebrating his life, voice and legacy through music and theatre.
Saturday 25 July: Natasa Theodoridou
Natasa Theodoridou returns to Nea Moudania for a summer concert full of beloved songs and emotion.
Sunday 26 July: Stand-Up Comedy – Alexandros Tsouvelas
A 90-minute stand-up show full of sharp humour, improvisation and “out-of-this-world” comedy.
Tuesday 28 July: The Imaginary Invalid
Molière’s classic comedy, directed by Thanasis Papathanasiou and Michalis Reppas, starring Vladimiros Kiriakidis.
Saturday 1 August: Medea
Euripides’ powerful tragedy, in a striking production directed by Nikita Milivojević, with Karyofyllia Karabeti in the title role.
Sunday 2 August: Maya the Bee
A colourful children’s show full of music, acrobatics, humour and a strong message about friendship and nature.
Monday 3 August: Giannis Charoulis
A live concert by Giannis Charoulis and his band, bringing energy, rhythm and Cretan sound.
